Main Avenue Visioning Study

Spokane, Washington
urban design, master-planning

Completed 1st Qtr. 2017, in conjunction with Miller Hull Partnership

At the request of the Downtown Spokane Partnership and neighborhood stakeholders, we were asked to develop a new vision for one of Spokane’s oldest streets.  Main Avenue is a critical link between the Central Business District and emerging University District, and is anchored by the University Link pedestrian bridge currently under construction.

This new vision for Main Avenue accommodates increased pedestrian and bicycle traffic and reduces the number of vehicular lanes from four to two, making room for dedicated bike lanes and expanded sidewalks. The re-imagined right of way adds significant tree canopy, landscaping, street amenities and public open space — to encourage further redevelopment of the urban core.
