Completed 2001 while at Mithun

In order to support and nurture their retired Sisters, the Sisters of the Holy Names created a non-denominational CCRC around their historic Provincial House. Three independent living apartment buildings, a wellness center and the Marie Rose Center – housing assisted living, Alzheimer’s memory care and skilled nursing residents – connect to the Provincial House, re-purposed as both the Sisters’ housing and the campus commons.

The Alzheimer’s memory care and skilled areas are designed as five distinct homes. Creating smaller homes provides more familiar, residential scaled spaces and allows greater connection to nature and light. Assisted living was purposely not sub-divided in order to foster a larger sense of community among assisted living and independent living residents and to encourage use of common space amenities in the Provincial House.
